Sneak Peek: The powerful new MINI John Cooper Works Hatch

This spring sees the launch of the impressive new MINI John Cooper Works Hatch.

What can we expect from the most powerful engine ever for a production MINI?  Drawing on MINIs motorsport expertise, the new JCW Hatch features suspension, aerodynamic, brake and interior enhancements. The 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo unit delivering 231 hp and 320 Nm, 6-speed manual transmission as standard, Exclusive 17-inch John Cooper Works Race Spoke light alloy wheels and high-performance Brembo brakes (with four-piston front callipers) make the JCW Hatch a force to be reckoned with!

The 0-62 mph time has been brought down by 0.2 seconds to 6.3 seconds with the manual gearbox, and by 0.6 seconds to 6.1 seconds with the optional six-speed Steptronic sports transmission compared to the previous MINI John Cooper Works. Thanks to the increased torque – acceleration from 50-75 mph is now 10 per cent quicker at 5.6 seconds too, so drivers can also experience much improved driving flexibility.

Some things haven’t changed; while the new MINI JCW Hatch boasts 42.2mpg fuel consumption with the manual gearbox and CO2 emissions of 155 g/km, your driving fun remains unaffected! Fuel economy also improves to 49.5mpg with the optional Steptronic sports transmission, with CO2 emissions of 133 g/km.

The aesthetic changes to the new JCW Hatch come with a purpose. such as  the new front apron featuring large engine air intakes and distinctive side sills. the John Cooper Works spoiler and model specific rear apron allows us to recognise the difference from the MINI 3-door Hatch. The signature styling remains; with the addition of LED headlamps with white indicators, unique radiator grille, side scuttles and tailgate with JCW badging. The head turning looks don’t stop there, with sporty interior features such as stainless steel pedals and footrest, exclusive bucket seats with integrated headrests and instrument displays to name a few! Keep a look out for the stunning new colour option Rebel Green, available only on the JCW.
