Harriet goes for gold at the Paralympics

The Olympics may have finished, but London 2012 is far from over – there’s just one week to go before the start of the Paralympics. We’re excited that one of our sponsored athletes, Harriet Lee, is among Britain’s top medal prospects in the swimming pool.

Supported by Elms Cambridge, Harriet will be going for gold in the 50 metres freestyle (S9) and the 100 metres breaststroke (SB9).

After another spectacular opening ceremony on Wednesday 29th, the competitive action begins on the 30th. Archery, track cycling, equestrian events, goalball, judo, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball all feature in a packed opening day.

UK Sport has set Britain’s Paralympic team a minimum target of 103 medals from at least 12 sports and the aim of second place in the medal table. If the team achieves that it will have surpassed the 65 medals and third-place finish achieved by Team GB in the Olympics.

Everyone at Elms wishes all our Paralympians – and Harriet in particular – the best of luck.
